NYCE Switching Canadian Purchases.

Canadians, who prefer to use their PIN-debit cards to shop more so than cash, checks or credit cards, can now use their debit cards to initiate purchases south of the border. NYCE Corp. on Oct. 8 announced the official launch of an initiative that enables Canadians to use their PIN-debit cards when shopping in the U.S. (ADN, 4/1).

Montvale, N.J.-base NYCE, a subsidiary of Metavante Corp., operates the NYCE electronic funds transfer network. The network switched the first U.S. transaction initiated with a Canadian debit card Oct. 7. The purchase was initiated at a Dean & DeLuca's location in Charlotte, N.C.
